Girls’ Football Team 14th October

Thursday 14th October 2021

The girls’ team hosted Westdale Juniors girls’ team for their first game of the season. It was the first football match that 7 of the 10 girls had played. We started strongly, with many attempts at goal and not allowing Westdale into our half at all. Rubi hit the crossbar and other efforts kept on narrowly missing the goal. Our luck changed at the end of the first half, when Lily-Rose charged through the defence and powered in our first goal. This seemed to raise the girls’ confidence, as in the second half we kept the pressure on and found the net a further 3 times. Lily-Rose scored another goal with Rubi and Isabelle L also scoring. The performance was excellent, and the scoreline could easily have been even higher. Again, we had fantastic support from the sidelines and I know the girls loved being cheered for so loudly.

Goal scorers: Lily-Rose (2), Rubi & Isabelle L.

Star of the match: entire team!

We thought you would like to see this message of encouragement from Mary Earps for our schools girls’ team. The girls’ were thrilled to receive it. Mary is from Nottingham and she has followed her dreams and worked exceptionally hard to become the goalkeeper for Manchester United Women’s Team and also for the National England Team. She played at Wembley recently with the England Team against Northern Ireland and kept a clean sheet. She also kept a clean sheet for England against Latvia. We know Mary will be keeping an eye on how well our girls do in future matches. So our girls are going to listen to what Mary says, keep focused, work hard, follow their dreams and achieve anything they set your mind to.
