World Book Day

It was World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March – but we made it World Book Week here at TCJA! On the day itself, the children came dressed up as their favourite book characters – and so did the staff! Little Red Riding Hood, Cruella de Ville, a witch or 2..

Every child was given a £1 World Book Day token, which can be spent on one of 12 brand new World Book Day books, or used to get £1 off a book of their choice at participating retailers (which includes our local Tesco, and also shops such as Sainsburys/Waterstones/WHSmiths).

Throughout the week, parents were invited in each morning to read with their children in the classroom – thank you to all those parents who attended and made this a great success.

And now World Book Week has become Book Month – in conjunction with other schools in the Trust, we’re participating in a month-long ‘Readathon’ (until 1st April) where children have set themselves a reading challenge and obtained sponsorship. Money raised will allow deliveries of books to be sent to the UK’s major children’s hospitals, as well as our library receiving books to the value of 20% of what we raise.
